Ingredients

1 lb flank or skirt steak

1 tablespoon olive oil

Juice of 1 lime

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

Salt and pepper to taste

8 tostada shells

1 cup refried beans, warmed

1/2 cup crumbled queso fresco

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup pico de gallo

1/2 cup sour cream or Mexican crema

1 avocado, mashed or sliced

Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Directions

In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Add steak, toss to coat, and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook steak 3–4 minutes per side, or until medium-rare. Let rest 5 minutes, then thinly slice.

Spread a layer of refried beans over each tostada shell.

Top with sliced carne asada, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and avocado.

Drizzle with sour cream or crema and sprinkle with cilantro if desired. Serve immediately.
