Ingredients

Brown together in large saucepan (or stockpot if you want a one pan meal)

1/2# to 1# hamburger

1/2# to 1# chopped bacon

1 small onion, chopped

Combine and add to meat mixture, or just stir these in:

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup white sugar

1/4 cup ketchup

1/4 cup barbecue sauce

2 Tbsps mustard

2 Tbsps molasses

1/2 tsp chili powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

2 cans pork and beans (or one large can)

1 can red beans

1 can navy or northern beans

The beans are flexible, but I have always used these 4 as they are my favorite. Just add 4 cans of your favorite.

Directions

Combine beef and bean mixtures well. Bake in ovenproof container at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Notes

This is another Debbie Burns from work recipe. I do not know the exact year but it was mid 1999 to 2000. It was made and brought in to work numerous times and gobbled up every time. I saw it listed as Old Settler Beans in cookbooks over the years and the ingredients varied a little. I have also made in oodles & oodles of times for any and almost all occasions over the past 25 years. K: June 8, 2025
