Banh Mi Hot Dog Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 4):

For the Pickled Veggies:

•1 cup julienned carrots

•1 cup julienned daikon radish (or regular radish if needed)

•½ cup rice vinegar

•½ cup water

•1 tablespoon sugar

•½ teaspoon salt

For the Hot Dogs:

•4 hot dog buns (preferably soft, bakery-style or split-top)

•4 hot dogs (beef, pork, or plant-based)

•1 small cucumber, thinly sliced or julienned

•1 small jalapeño, thinly sliced

•Fresh cilantro sprigs

•¼ cup mayonnaise

•1 teaspoon sriracha (more or less to taste)

•Optional: pâté (like liverwurst or a mushroom-based vegan pâté)

Directions

Instructions:

1.Quick-Pickle the Veggies:

•In a bowl, mix rice vinegar, water, sugar, and salt until dissolved.

•Add carrots and daikon, stir well, and let sit for at least 20–30 minutes (or refrigerate for longer if prepping ahead).

2.Cook the Hot Dogs:

•Grill, pan-fry, or boil your hot dogs until cooked and lightly crisped (if grilling or frying).

3.Prepare the Buns:

•Lightly toast the buns if desired.

•Optional: Spread a thin layer of pâté on the inside of the bun.

4.Mix the Spicy Mayo:

•Combine mayonnaise and sriracha in a small bowl. Adjust heat to your taste.

5.Assemble:

•Place the hot dog in the bun.

•Add a few slices of cucumber, drained pickled veggies, and jalapeño slices.

•Drizzle with spicy mayo.

•Top with fresh cilantro.
