Ingredients

4 ripe tomatoes

1 small red onion, peeled and quartered

4 garlic cloves

1/2 small serrano pepper

1/3 cup fresh cilantro

3 tablespoons fresh lime juice

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon sugar

2 teaspoons salt

1 (15 oz.) can of crushed San Marrano tomatoes

Directions

Place tomatoes and serrano pepper in a pot filled with water and boil at medium high heat for 15 minutes.

Slice onion into quarters, peel garlic, squeeze and measure lime juice, chop and measure cilantro.

Place the tomatoes and serrano pepper in a food processor with the garlic, onion, cilantro, lime juice, sugar, salt, and crushed San Marrano tomatoes and blend until smooth.

Garnish with extra cilantro and serve with your favorite chips.
