Ingredients

Marinade:

  • 2 lb chuck roast beef (cut into 1 inch cubes)

  • ¼ cup ketchup

  • 2 TB oyster sauce

  • 1 TB sugar

  • 1 TB chicken bouillon

  • 1 TB hoisin sauce

  • ⅓ bag (18.9 grams) of "bot gia vi bo kho"

  • 2-3 stalks lemongrass (mashed)

  • 1 knob ginger (mashed)

  • Minced garlic

Others:

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 can chicken broth

  • 4-5 Carrots

  • 1 Onion

  • Crusty bread, rice noodles, or rice

Directions

  1. Marinade beef for at least 30 min to overnight

  2. In Dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat

  3. Sauté beef (with the lemongrass and ginger) for a few minutes

  4. Add in chicken broth and water

  5. Simmer low for 40-60 min until beef is tender

  6. Add in carrots and onion

  7. Cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes until carrots are cooked

  8. Serve with bread, noodles, or rice
