Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F & grease an 18×13” pan.
Make the Batter:
In a saucepan, bring 1 cup water, 1 cup butter, & 3 tbsp cocoa powder to a boil.
In a bowl, whisk 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, 1 tsp baking soda, & ½ tsp salt.
In another bowl, mix ½ cup sour cream, 2 eggs, & 1 tsp vanilla.
Combine dry & wet ingredients, then pour in the hot cocoa mixture, stirring until smooth.
Bake: Pour batter into the pan & bake for 15-20 min, until set.
Make the Frosting:
In a saucepan, bring 6 tbsp milk, 3 tbsp cocoa powder, & ½ cup butter to a boil.
Remove from heat & whisk in 3¾ cups powdered sugar until smooth.
Finish: Pour hot frosting over the hot cake, spreading evenly. Let set 10 min, then slice & enjoy!
