Tender Braised Beef with Rich Sauce

1 ½ kg beef brisket (or chuck roast)
2 tbsp olive oil
Salt & black pepper
1 onion, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
½ cup BBQ sauce (or dark soy-based sauce)
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp smoked paprika
Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
Directions
Season the beef generously with salt and black pepper.
Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven. Sear the beef on all sides until deeply browned.
Remove beef, then sauté onion and garlic until soft and fragrant.
Add beef broth, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and smoked paprika. Stir well.
Return the beef to the pot. Add herbs if using.
Cover and cook:
Oven: 160°C (320°F) for 3–4 hours
Stovetop: very low heat for 3 hours
until fork-tender.
Remove beef and let it rest 10 minutes, then slice.
Simmer the sauce uncovered for 5–10 minutes until thick and glossy.
Pour sauce over the sliced beef and serve.

Searing & sauce prep: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 3–3½ hours
Resting & slicing: 10 minutes
