total timeIngredients
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg plus 1 large egg yolk, at room temperature
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
½ cup Nutella
Directions
1 Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 8 × 8-inch square baking pan with
parchment paper on all sides (see page 23).
2 In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter and brown sugar until combined Whisk in the egg, extra egg yolk, and vanilla extract until combined.
3 Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Use a silicone spatula to fold until combined and no streaks of flour remain. Gently fold in the chocolate chips,
mixing only until combined
4 Use the silicone spatula to scrape the batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly to the edges and smoothing out the top. Drop spoonfuls of Nutella on top of the batter (6 to 8 spoonfuls from the ½ cup measurement). Use a butter knife to drag and swirl the Nutella through the blondie batter.
5 Bake until the edges are set and the blondies are golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. The middle may still look underbaked, but the blondies will continue to cook as they cool in the pan.
6 Place the pan on a cooling rack and allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan. Use the parchment paper to lift the blondies from the pan, then transfer the blondies to a cutting board, cut into 9 squares, and serve.
