Ingredients

2 ½ tsp(7g) active dry yeast

1 cup water (luke warm)

2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)

2 tsp granulated sugar

1 tsp salt

3 ¼ cup(465g) all-purpose flour

Water Bath

3 cups water

4 tbsp baking soda

Pretzel Dogs

1 package hotdogs

1 tbsp flakey sea salt

Cinnamon Bites

2 tsp cinnamon powder

¼ cup granulated sugar

Directions

Making the Dough

Combine luke-warm water with active dry yeast and granulated sugar, stir to combine and let the yeast for around 10 minutes.

Add the bloomed yeast to a stand mixer, fitted with a hook attachment. Stir in the salt and melted butter.

kneading

Add the flour in, about ½ cup at a time and let the stand mixer work the dough, for around 10 minutes, until a ball forms and the dough slightly bounces back when indented with a finger.

Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with cling wrap or towel.Let rise for 1 hour in a warm place, until doubled in size. Meanwhile, Preheat the oven to 450º.

shaping

When the dough has finished raising, punch down the dough and divide into 8 lumps. Roll each piece with your hands to form a rope. Create your desired Auntie Anne favorite pretzel shapes here.

Baking Soda Bath

Combine the warm water and baking soda in a wide bowl and let it come to a boil.

Place the pretzels in the baking soda bath for 2 minutes and remove and place on to a lined baking tray to let rise for 15 more minutes.

Baking the Pretzel

Place the pretzels in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until golden and crispy on the surface.

For savory pretzels, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with flakey sea salt.

For sweet pretzels, combine the cinnamon and sugar in a large, shallow bowl. Dip the pretzels with melted butter and coat in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Eat and enjoy!
