Sweet Cornbread Recipe

Ingredients

- 1 cup cornmeal;

- 1 cup all-purpose flour;

- ½ cup granulated sugar;

- 3 tsp baking powder;

- ½ tsp salt;

- 1 ¼ cups milk;

- 2 large eggs;

- ⅓ cup vegetable oil;

- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (melted;)

- 2 tbsp honey.

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease the bottom and the sides of an 8-inch square pan with non-stick cooking spray.

In a bowl, stir together the dry ingredients (cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt).

In another bowl whisk together the wet ingredients (milk, eggs, vegetable oil, melted butter, and honey). Add to the dry ingredients. Stir until combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Spread evenly.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until it begins to brown. Check the readiness of the sweet cornbread using a toothpick inserted in the center, if it comes out clean - the cornbread is ready.

Remove from the oven. Let cool for 10 minutes. Then, slice and serve warm with butter or a drizzle of honey!
