Ingredients

For The Filling and Layers

1.2 lbs ground chicken

5 green onions, finely sliced

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 inch piece ginger, minced (this is optional but recommended)

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp chicken bouillon powder

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp chili sauce (optional, for a little kick)

27 dumpling wrappers (round or square work fine)

1/2 cup hot water

For The Toppings

Chili oil

Soy sauce

Smooth peanut butter (trust me on this one)

Chives, finely sliced

Sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1: Make The Filling

Grab a large bowl to start. Combine your ground chicken with the green onions, minced garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sugar, chicken bouillon, garlic powder, and chili sauce. You want to mix this really well. Stir it until the mixture looks smooth and feels slightly sticky. This sticky texture helps the meat hold together inside the dumpling lasagna layers.

Step 2: Assemble The Base

You will need a heatproof dish for this, roughly 7×9 inches and about 3 inches deep. Lightly grease the inside to prevent sticking. Take about one quarter of your meat mixture and spread it evenly over the bottom of the dish. Next, arrange 6 dumpling wrappers on top. You want minimal overlap here, just like you are laying down pasta sheets. Gently press them down so they stick to the meat.

Step 3: Repeat The Layers

Now it is just a matter of repetition. Add another layer of the  meat mixture on top of the wrappers, followed by another layer of wrappers. Keep going until you have used up all your ingredients. You are building a tower of savory goodness that mimics the inside of a chicken Dumpling, but in casserole form

Step 4: Add Water And Prepare For Steam

This step is crucial for that  Soup Dumpling Lasagna texture. Carefully pour the 1/2 cup of hot water over the dumplings in the dish. Then, place your baking dish inside a larger baking pan. Pour boiling water into the outer pan until it reaches halfway up the sides of your dish containing the lasagna. This water bath ensures gentle, even cooking.

Step 5: Bake To Perfection

Cover your dish with foil or an oven safe lid. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (205 degrees Celsius) for 30 to 40 minutes. Check it at the 30 minute mark. The bake time might vary depending on your bakeware, but you are looking for wrappers that are soft, wrinkly, and fully cooked through. The meat should be cooked thoroughly.

Step 6: Finish And Serve

Once it is out of the oven, the fun part begins. Drizzle the top generously with soy sauce, smooth peanut butter, and chili oil. Finish it off with fresh chives and sesame seeds. Serve it hot right away. The combination of sauces creates a rich, nutty, spicy coating that makes this dumpling lasagna absolutely irresistible.
