For the Roasted Garlic Butter Spread:
3 head of garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
1 stick of butter, softened
1/4 cup shredded parm
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tbsp chopped basil
1 tbsp italian seasoning
For the Cream Cheese Spread:
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp sour cream
½ tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Sandwich:
4 slices sourdough or italian bread
4 slices provolone cheese
4 slices cheddar cheese
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
Roast the Garlic:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the top off the head of garlic, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, and roast for 35–40 minutes, until golden and soft. Let cool.
Make the Butter:
In a bowl, mash roasted garlic with all ingredients listed above and set aside.
Make the cream cheese spread:Mix together 4 oz cream cheese, 2 tbsp sour cream, ½ tsp red pepper flakes, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp onion powder, Salt and pepper, to taste
Assemble the Sandwiches:
Spread the garlic butter mixture generously on one side of each bread slice. On the unspread side, layer provolone, cheddar, a dollop of cream cheese mixture and a generous sprinkle of shredded mozzarella. Close up the sandwiches.
Grill:
Grill in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown and crisp on both sides, and the cheese is gloriously melted.
Serve:
Slice in half and serve hot. Maybe with tomato soup or a spicy marinara for dipping hehe
