Prune Bread

Ingredients

1 lb prunes

2 cups water

2 cups sugar

3/4 lb (3 sticks) margarine or butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon cloves

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon salt

4 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 eggs

Directions

Soak prunes overnight. Save 2 cups water in which they were soaked. Pit and chop prunes. Cook prunes, liquid, sugar, margarine, and spices, and salt for 15 minutes. Let cool.

Sift flour with baking soda. Add beaten eggs and dry ingredients to cooled prune mixture.

Pour into greased loaf pans. Bake at 325° F for 60 minutes.

Makes two loaves.
