Nana’s Date & Nut Bread

Ingredients

1 pound Dates, cut up

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 cups boiling water

1 stick margarine

1 3/4 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped nuts

4 cups flour

Directions

Cut up dates in large bowl. Sprinkle with baking soda. Pour boiling water over dates. Allow dates to steep.

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, flour and date mixture alternately. Mix well. Add nuts.

Grease tins. Fill 1/2 full. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees F.
