1 small onion, sliced
2 green onions, chopped
1 tosp sesame seeds (optional)

1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp sugar (or honey)
1 tosp sesame oil
1 tosp minced garlic
1 tbsp grated ginger
2 tosp mirin (or rice wine; optional but adds sweetness
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 Korean pear or Asian pear, grated (optional but authentic)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Beef:
Slice the beef very thinly (partially freezing it helps).
Place it in a large mixing bowl.
2. Make the Marinade
In a bowl, mix all marinade ingredients together.
3. Marinate the Beef
Combine sliced beef, onion, and green onions (plus optional veggies) with the marinade. Mix well to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 4 hours or overnight.
4. Cook
Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
Add a bit of oil if using a regular pan.
Cook the beef in batches (don't overcrowd), about 1-2 minutes per side, until cooked through and caramelized.
5. Serve
Serve hot with steamed rice, kimchi, and optional lettuce wraps.
