Pecan Tassies (Mary McTeer)

Dough:
3 oz pkg. cream cheese
½ cup butter or oleo
1 cup sifted flour
Filling:
1 egg
¾ cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp soft butter or oleo
dash salt
⅔ cup chopped pecans
Directions
Cheese Dough
Cream together cream cheese and butter (soften at room temperature). Stir in flour. Chill about 1 hour.
Shape in 2 dozen 1 inch balls. Place in ungreased muffin tins. Press dough against bottom and sides ½ to ⅔“ up sides.) (Doubles when using mini-tins.)
Pecan Filling:
Beat together egg, brown sugar, tbsp butter, vanilla and salt until smooth. Add pecans and stir. Place a little more than 2 tsp per tassy until used up.
Bake in slow oven 325º for 25 to 30 minutes until filling is set and pastry is lightly brown.
