Ingredients

For the Dough:

* 1½ cups all-purpose flour

* ½ cup warm milk

* ¼ cup melted butter

* 1 Tbsp sugar

* 2 tsp active dry yeast

* ¾ tsp salt

For the Filling:

* 1 lb ground beef

* 4 garlic cloves, minced

* 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese

* ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

* 1 tsp Italian seasoning

* Salt and pepper to taste

* For Assembly:

* 2 Tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

* Additional parmesan cheese for sprinkling

Directions

1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2. Once foamy, add 1 cup of flour, salt, and melted butter. Stir until well combined.

3. Gradually add remaining flour, about 2 tbsp at a time, until the dough becomes smooth but not sticky (tacky is okay). Knead for 3-5 minutes.

4. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel. Let rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes until doubled in size.

5. While dough is rising, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 6-8 minutes).

6. Add minced garlic and Italian seasoning, cook for another minute until fragrant.

7. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

8. Stir in the shredded cheese until melted and combined. Set aside to cool completely.

9. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

10. Once dough has doubled, punch it down and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces (about 2.5 oz each).

11. Roll each piece into a 4-5 inch circle. Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of each circle. Gather the edges of the dough around the filling and pinch tightly to seal, forming a ball. Make sure the seam is completely closed.

12. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

13. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with additional parmesan cheese.

14. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
