Ingredientes

Toasted chile de árbol (choose heat level): 4 oz (spicy), 8 oz (extra spicy), or 15 oz (extremely spicy)

5 Roma tomatoes

½ white onion

3 cloves garlic

1 chicken bouillon cube

½ can chipotles in adobo (about half the peppers + half the sauce)

2 tbsp cayenne pepper

1 tbsp black pepper

2 tbsp garlic powder

2 tbsp onion powder

½ cup water (from boiling)

Salt, to taste

2–3 limes (or more, to taste)

Instruções

Boil:

Add water to a pot, then add the chile de árbol, tomatoes, onion, and garlic. Boil for 15 minutes.

Blend:

Transfer everything to a blender (you’ll likely need to do this in batches).

Season:

Take ½ cup of the boiling water, dissolve the chicken bouillon cube in it, and add it to the blender along with the chipotles, cayenne, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.

Finish:

Blend until smooth. Add fresh lime juice to taste.

Enjoy:

Taste, adjust salt or lime, and enjoy — bold, smoky, and seriously spicy.
