The Hurricane

Many know this cocktail, but unfortunately it is far too often made wrong. Recipes with orange juice or grenadine are not rare, but all incorrect. โ The next mistake is that often a normal white rum (mostly from Cuba) is used. But an aged Jamaican rum makes the difference. ๐ฏ๐ฒAfter all, a Cuban rum can not offer the portion of funk of a Jamaican. Trust me. ๐๐ฝ
The real Hurricane is actually a kind of sour with rum, to which instead of simple syrup, a passion fruit syrup is added. Thatโs it ๐๐ผโ๏ธ.
Hurricane โจ(New Orleans Style) โจ
60 ml I 2oz Jamaican Rum (Overproof)
30 ml I 1oz Passion Fruit Syrup
30ml I 1oz Lemon Juice
Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into an ice filled Double Old Fashioned glass or classy in a Hurricane glass. ๐ฅ๐น
Remember: if you order a Hurricane Cocktail in a bar and you get a deep red drink. Escape as fast as you can, because this is then not the good old recipe from New Orleans. ๐ต๐ซ
