Quick tip to get rid and neutralize onion or garlic smell from your cutting board or prep surface. Cut a lemon or lime in half and rub it on surfaces or use it to wipe down the areas.

Tip 2️⃣

Rubbing a thin layer of oil on a knife blade before slicing onions. It reduces tears and minimize friction. The oil acts as a barrier, preventing onion juices from sticking to the knife and limiting the sulfur fumes that cause eye irritation.

Keeping the root of the onion intact is an effective way to prevent tears because it contains the highest concentration of sulfuric compounds. When the root is cut, these compounds mix with enzymes to release a volatile gas that reacts with the moisture in your eyes that causes irritation.

Refrigerating whole onions for 30 minutes before cutting reduces the release of tear-inducing sulfur compounds, making it a recommended, actionable tip for reducing eye irritation

The egg float test. Check your eggs freshness by placing them in a bowl of water. A fresh egg sinks to the bottom and lies flat, an older egg stands upright on the bottom but is still safe to eat, while a floating egg is old and should be discarded
