Candied Cayenne Nuts

Ingredienti

5 cups pecans

2 1/2 cups pumpkin seeds/pepitas

20 tsp ground cinnamon (or 15 tsp cinnamon and 5 tsp nutmeg)

10 tsp cayenne pepper

2 tsp salt

10-12 tbsp maple syrup

Istruzioni

Preheat the oven to 350° F. Line 2 baking sheets with aluminum foil

In a bowl, mix all of your ingredients. Start with 10 tbsp of maple syrup and adjust as needed

Lay out your mixture on your prepared sheets. Try your best to lay everything flat and not stacked on top of each other.

Cook in the oven for 7 minutes on the top rack (if cooking on the bottom, add up to 2 tbsp more maple syrup). After 7 minutes, pull the nuts out and stir them, laying them out flat again before returning to the oven

Cook for another 5-8 minutes. Time will vary based on size of nuts and amount on your baking sheets

Note

I baked them for 7 minutes, pulled them both out, and added 1 tbsp (should’ve been 2) to the bottom one. I then returned just the bottom sheet to the top rack and baked for another 8 minutes. I didn’t add more syrup to the original top rack sheet. After the bottom sheet was done I baked the top sheet on the top rack for another 8 minutes
