Hamburger Steak With Gravy

Ingredienti

For the Steaks

1lb ground beef

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Gravy

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Istruzioni

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently just until combined. Form into 4 oval patties.!

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove to a plate and set aside.

In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the sliced onion and cook 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly golden. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir constantly for about 1 minute. Slowly whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and black pepper. Simmer 5-7 minutes, until the gravy thickens.

Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet nestling them into the gravy. Spoon gravy over the tops and simmer 3-4 minutes more so the flavors come together.

Serve hot with plenty of onion gravy spooned over each steak.
