Chicken & Black Bean Burgers

1 lb (455 g) ground chicken
½ c (80 g) black beans, drained and
lightly mashed
½ c (80 g) cooked white rice, cooled
1 tsp chili powder
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
½ c (60 g) cheddar cheese, grated
Salt and pepper
6 hamburger buns, optional
6 (1 oz [28 g]) cheddar cheese slices
½ c (120 ml) salsa
Optional: sliced avocado
Istruzioni
In a large bowl, gently combine the ground chicken, black beans, rice, all the spices, 1 egg and grated cheddar cheese. Use your hands to get in there and give it a good mix. Form the chicken mixture into 6 equal-size patties and season with salt and & pepper on each side. Grill the patties over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side, r or until the center is no longer pink. Let the burgers rest under a sheet of tinfoil until ready to serve.
Place each cooked patty on a toasted hamburger bun with a slice of cheddar cheese and a tablespoon (15 ml) of salsa!
