Note
This is a recipe from Grandma Bowser that I received from Aunt Dorothy. It is pretty rudimentary, as many recipes were years ago. I have a more modern version that I have used to modify this one to something more readily useable. Regardless, this bread was a standard throughout my life at Christmas, both at Grandma's and at home. It's wonderful sliced and slathered with butter. Both Grandma and mom wrapped the bread in waxed paper and foil. Don't know why they needed both, but that's how it was always done.
