Mom and Dad reminisced how they loved these cocktails when living in New Orleans. More than once I heard Mom ask a bartender if he/she knew how to make one and the answer was always no. In 2007, Grandaddy searched the internet to find the recipe (pic included) Funny, it’s just a Kahlua n cream or White Russian! HOWEVER, those call for club soda, not Coke.
According to folklore, the Smith and Kearns is named after 2 oilmen who bellied up to the bar many a time to drink them. Not sure of location, but according to one vintage cocktail historian, this drink originated @1952 in Bismarck, North Dakota! My guess is oilmen travelled to Louisiana and took the recipe with them. Anyway, it was a popular drink when your grandparents were young, wild and free. 😁
