1 C Slivered Almonds

1 3/4 tsp Anise seeds

360 Gm A/P Flour

1 Tbsp Baking Powder

4 Gm (1 1/2 tsp) Diamond Crystal Salt

113 Gm Butter (1/2 C = 1 stick) Room Temp

200 Gm Granulated Sugar

3 Eggs

2 Tbsp Lemon Juice

1 Tbsp Vanilla

1/2 tsp Almond Extract

1 Lemon Zested

Upute

Toast almonds @ 350F, cool, chop coarsely.

Toast anise seeds in pan on medium heat for 4 minutes, cool.

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt.

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and mix.

Add anise, lemon juice, vanilla, almond extract, lemon zest.

Add flour mixture.

Work in almonds with hands, dough will be sticky.

Divide in half, roll each into a log 1 1/2 inches in diameter (illegible: and 11? inches long).

Bake at 325F for 30 minutes.

Cool 30 minutes.

Cut at a diagonal into 1/2 inch pieces.

Bake slices at 250F for 10 minutes, then flip and bake for additional 10 minutes.

I learned this biscotti recipe from my grandmother who learned from her mother. I don't know how far back it goes, but considering my grandmother would be 103 this year, I'm assuming it's old enough.
