French Toast Almondine

Ingrédients

6 eggs

1/4 cup liquid brown sugar

1/4 cup milk

1 large loaf French bread

1/2 cup butter

Almondine Sauce:

2 tsp butter

1 cup sliced natural almonds

1 1/2 cup liquid brown sugar

1/2 tsp almond extract

Instructions

In a shallow dish, beat eggs, liquid brown sugar and milk. Cut bread into 3/4 inch slices. Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees. Melt 1/4 cup butter in each of 2 (16x9) baking dishes by placing in the oven. Remove pans from oven. Dip bread slices in egg mixture to coat evenly. Place slices in single layer in buttered pans. Bake 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally. In small saucepan melt butter, add almonds. Cook until golden, stirring occasionally. Add liquid brown sugar and almond extract, heat through. Keep warm until ready to serve. Arrange French toast on platter. Drizzle sauce over top, serve remainder on side.

Notes

Nice addition to a Sunday brunch.
