1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon hot sauce

1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, optional
1 tablespoon chopped parsley or green onions, optional
Instructions
Cook the rotini according to package directions until tender, about 9 to 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until browned.
Add onion and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until softened, then stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
In a small bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, honey, hot sauce, chicken broth, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Pour into the skillet and stir well.
Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, then add the cooked pasta and toss until everything is evenly coated.
Sprinkle with cheddar cheese if using and let it melt for 1 to 2 minutes.
Finish with parsley or green onions if desired and serve hot. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
