1½ cups sugar
1½ cups water
3 oranges
1 bar dark chocolate (preferably orange-flavored)
Flaky salt, for garnish
Instructions
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
Wash and thinly slice the oranges, discarding the ends.
Blanch the slices in the boiling water for 2 minutes to remove bitterness.
Remove the slices and place them on a wire rack to drain. Discard the water.
In the same pan, combine 1½ cups water and 1½ cups sugar. Bring to a gentle boil.
Add the orange slices to the syrup, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 45–50 minutes, flipping occasionally, until translucent.
Transfer slices back to the wire rack and let them cool and dry slightly (about 1 hour).
Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each until smooth.
Dip half of each orange slice into the chocolate and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle with flaky salt while the chocolate is still soft.
Refrigerate for about 20 minutes, or until the chocolate is set.
Storage Tip:
Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks — they make a lovely snack or edible gift!
