3/4 cup rice
3/4 cup masoor daal
1/4 cup oil
4 cups water
1.5 tsp zeera
1 tbs garlic ginger paste
1/2 cup friend onion
1.5 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp turmeric
Instrucciones
1. Wash well pink masoor daal and rice and set aside.
2. Heat about oil and add zeera seeds and whole black pepper (2 green cardamom optional)
3. When zeera is brown add fried onions - stir for 1/2 minute and add garlic ginger paste.
4. Fry everything for a minute and add the washed rice and lentils and turmeric. Stir for a minute and add the water.
5. When the water comes to a boil add salt and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
6. Turn the heat to the lowest setting, cover the pot and leave for 20 minutes.
7. You can add a tsp of butter in the end for extra flavor.
Alternatively:
If you want to cook in the pressure cooker then use 2 cups water and turn off the stove after 5 whistles. Don’t open the pressure cooker until the pressure has released on its own (approximately 20 minutes).
