DIY Buttermilk Substitute

2 teaspoons white vinegar or fresh lemon juice
1 cup minus 2 teaspoons (about 235ml) whole milk **
Anweisungen
Place vinegar/lemon juice in a liquid measuring cup. Pour in the milk until it reaches the 1-cup line. Give it a stir, then let sit for 5 minutes. The milk will be slightly soured/curdled and ready to use in your recipe in place of buttermilk.

**Make sure the milk is warm for the vinegar to activate and thicken! It won’t work with cold milk. Either white vinegar or apple cider vinegar work and either 2 tsp or 1 tablespoon.
