Crème Brûlée French Toast - Overnight

1 loaf loaf French bread (cut into 1-inch slices)

6 large eggs

2 cups heavy cream

1/2 cup whole milk

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)

½ cup packed light brown sugar

1 tbsp corn syrup

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Prep the Baking Dish:

Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

Arrange the Bread:

Slice the French bread into 1-inch slices and arrange them in a single layer in the greased baking dish.

Make the Custard Mixture:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together:

6 large eggs

2 cups heavy cream

1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

Soak the Bread:

Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread slices. Make sure all pieces are well-coated. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).

Preheat the Oven:

The next morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Brown Sugar Topping:

In a small saucepan, combine:

1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1 tablespoon corn syrup

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and the sugar is dissolved.

Top the Bread:

Pour the brown sugar mixture evenly over the soaked bread slices. Spread it out with a spatula or spoon to cover the bread.

Brûlée the Top:

Sprinkle additional granulated sugar over the top of the bread slices to create a brûlée topping.

Bake the French Toast:

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the French toast is golden brown and set in the center.

Cool & Serve:

Remove from the oven and let the French toast cool for a few minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!
