Chocolate Pecan Pie Brownies

Brownie Base:

200 g dark chocolate, chopped (7 oz)

120 g unsalted butter (1/2 cup)

200 g granulated sugar (1 cup)

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

125 g all-purpose flour (1 cup)

30 g unsweetened cocoa powder (1/4 cup)

1/4 teaspoon salt

Pecan Pie Topping:

150 g pecans, chopped (1 1/2 cups)

100 g brown sugar, packed (1/2 cup)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons corn syrup or maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9-inch (23x23 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.

In a heatproof bowl, melt dark chocolate and butter together over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.

In a large bowl, whisk together sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Stir in melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract.

Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold until just combined. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.

In a small bowl, mix chopped pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, corn syrup, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Spread evenly over brownie batter.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pecan topping is set and a toothpick inserted into the brownie (avoiding the topping) comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
