Garlic-butter Surf & Turf in 20 Minutes

For the Steak:

2 filet mignon steaks (6–8 oz each)

Salt & black pepper, to taste

1 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp butter

2 garlic cloves, smashed

1 sprig fresh rosemary or thyme

For the Shrimp:

½ lb shrimp, peeled & deveined

1 tbsp butter

1 clove garlic, minced

½ tsp paprika

½ tsp lemon juice

Salt & pepper, to taste

For the Cream Sauce:

½ cup heavy cream

1 tsp Dijon mustard

½ tsp crushed peppercorns

1 tbsp Parmesan cheese

1 tbsp chopped parsley

How to Make It

Sear the Filet Mignon:

Pat steaks dry and season well. Heat olive oil in a hot skillet, sear 2–3 minutes per side. Add butter, garlic & herbs — baste with melted butter for a rich crust. Finish in a 400°F oven for 5–7 min (medium-rare perfection).

Cook the Shrimp:

In another pan, melt butter. Add garlic, paprika, and lemon juice. Toss shrimp 1–2 minutes per side until pink and caramelized — juicy seafood magic.

Build the Cream Sauce:

In the same shrimp pan, add cream, Dijon, peppercorns, and Parmesan. Simmer until thick and silky — bold, elegant flavor made simple.

Assemble the Surf & Turf:

Plate the steak, spoon the sauce over, and crown with shrimp. The creamy drizzle ties it all together like a restaurant chef’s finish.

Garnish & Serve:

Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot — mashed potatoes or roasted asparagus on the side for the perfect fine-dining moment.
