Fran’s Stuffed Cabbage

*NOTE: this recipe serves 36 people (50 to 75 stuffed cabbage)
4 Lg. cabbages or 8 small (Savory brand is best)
4-5 Ibs of hamburger
14.5 ounces of stewed tomatoes
2-21b boxes of sugar
2 bottles of sour salt
4 extra large white onions (sliced) round size of quarter
1 box of dark raisons
1 box brown sugar
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Lawry's Season salt
Rice
1 egg per pound of Hamburg
8 slices of white bread

Freeze cabbage 4-5 days. Take out and defrost the night before Pam 2 large pots
Line pots with sliced onions
Add brown sugar and sugar over the onions (pour thickly)
Add sour salt over sugar (VERY LIGHTLY)
Spread ½ package of raisons
Core cabbage- run cold water into core to separate leaves (pull leaves lightly)
Mix meat with one egg per pound (can do 2 Ibs with 2 eggs)
Season with garlic powder, onion powder, and Lawry's salt and mix together Add uncooked rice and 3-4 slices of bread crusts removed wet to meat to hold together
Roll hamburg oblong like a hot dog and roll into cabbage
Roll meat once into leaf and fold sides in and roll
Line pots with stuffed cabbage 2 to 3 layers
Cut up left over cabbage and put on top
Add boiling water to just cover the cabbage
Cook medium heat-tilted cover
Taste until right flavor
Too sour add sugar too sweet add sour salt
Cook for 1 ½ hours- LOW
LET COOL
Use slotted spoon and transfer to silver foil pans cover good with sauce and freeze
Take out the night before serving
Heat oven to 350 and cook for 30 to 45 minutes
Serve over rice
