Hearty Split Pea Soup

3 cups dried split peas, rinsed and drained
8 cups water
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup celery leaves, chopped (optional)
1 cup carrots, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
8 oz ham chopped or ham bone
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 1/2-2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
步骤
Add all the ingredients to the instant pot and stir. Select manual high pressure, (turning off keep warm function) for 17 minutes then NR 15 minutes, then QR.
Remove the ham bone and get the meat off before putting the meat back in.
备注
This soup thickens as it cools so add more water if needed and always after refrigeration when warming. Add more salt to taste.
If cooking in slow cooker or on stove top add 1 cup of additional water.
Enjoy with cornbread.
