Heather's everyday granola

3 cups oats (old fashioned or quick)

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/3 cup canola oil

1/3 cup maple syrup

Flavourings of choice:

I like 1 tsp vanilla + 1/2 tsp cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice

1 to 1 1/2 cups of dry mix-ins (I use a combination of shredded coconut, chopped walnuts/nuts, and pumpkin seeds)

Other options:

Dutch apple - 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 cup walnut halves added to the dry mixture before baking. After baking, add 1 cup chopped dried apple and 1 cup golden raisins

Jamaican - 1/2 tsp ground mace, 1/2 tsp allspice, 1 cup cashews, and 1 cup large-flake unsweetened coconut added to dry mix before baking. After baking, add 1 cup chopped dried pineapple and 1/4 cup chopped candied ginger

Chocolate cherry - 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder added to dry mix before baking. After baked and cooled, add 1 cup dried cherries and 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

步骤

Heat oven to 250 F

In a medium bowl, combine all dry ingredients (except for anything that shouldn't be baked such as fruit or chocolate chips)

Add the oil, maple syrup, (and vanilla if using), then stir together thoroughly until all is well coated.

Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes or so. Cool fully before storing in an airtight container.
