Shrimp and Sausage Cabbage Bowl with Rice

1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
12 oz smoked sausage (sliced)
½ head green cabbage (chopped)
1 small onion (sliced)
1 red bell pepper (chopped)
1 carrot (sliced)
3 cloves garlic (minced)
2 tbsp olive oil or butter
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste
½ cup chicken broth or water
Cooked white rice (for serving)

Step 1: Brown the sausage:
In a large skillet over medium heat, add sausage slices and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 2: Sauté vegetables:
In the same pan, add oil/butter. Sauté onion, bell pepper, cabbage, and carrots until softened (about 10 minutes). Add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
Step 3: Season and simmer:
Season with paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Add chicken broth and simmer for 5–7 minutes until cabbage is tender.
Step 4: Add shrimp and sausage:
Return sausage to the pan and add shrimp. Cook for another 3–5 minutes, until shrimp are pink and cooked through.
Serve:
Spoon the mixture over warm white rice and enjoy y’all ❤️
