Salt & Pepper Tofu

16 oz extra firm, high protein tofu from @traderjoes , drained and pressed dry

5 tablespoon cornstarch

pepper of choice, thinly sliced (I used Serrano)

2 green onions, chopped

fresh minced garlic, as much as you want (I used 6 cloves)

spice mix:

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp white pepper

1/4 tsp ginger powder

1/4 tsp msg

salt and pepper mix:

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp gochugaru or crushed red peppers

1/4 tsp white pepper

1/4 tsp five-spice powder (can omit if you don’t have it)

preheat air fryer to 400°f. Pat dry tofu and cut into bite-sized cubes.

in a bowl, mix together spice mix. season tofu cubes with the spice mix then toss with cornstarch until evenly coated. Add 2 tbsp of neutral oil and toss until evenly coated.

Spray air fryer with oil and place tofu cubes in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they’re not touching. Cook for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway.

While tofu is cooking, prepare the salt and pepper mix and cut garlic, green onions and peppers.

in a pan, heat oil over medium heat, add garlic, green onions and peppers. sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. add the air-fried tofu cubes to the pan. sprinkle the salt and pepper mix and toss to evenly coat.

Serve and enjoy! But be careful not to burn your tongue 😛 adjust seasoning to your taste preference.
