Steak and Heart Attack Fried Rice

300g Steak, sirloin or ribeye

Salt and Black Pepper, to taste

1 tbsp Butter

Oil

1 serving Cooked Rice

1-2 Garlic, minced

1 Bird’s Eye Chilli (optional)

1 egg

1 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce

Salt and Black Pepper, to taste

Steak

Pat steak surface dry with paper towel. Season steak with salt and pepper on both sides.

To pan, add oil. Use high heat.

Once super hot, gently lay on steak and cook steak to preferred doneness.

Add butter halfway through (or when you flip it to the other side). Baste steak with butter.

Once steak cooks, remove from pan and allow to rest before slicing to preference. Meanwhile, make the fried rice.

Fried Rice

If using separate pan to fry rice, pour the leftover butter and beef drippings to it.

Turn the heat back on and add garlic and chillies. Saute until fragrant, before scrambling in eggs.

Once eggs are half-cooked, toss in rice, and season with dark soy sauce, salt and pepper to taste. Toss through to combine. Feel free to add more dark soy sauce for more colour!

Toss in spring onions, and fried rice done! Optional: let the fried rice hang out in the pan for a while over high heat to get more charry, burnt bits before serving.

Serve fried rice with the steak on a cutting board!
