Grandma Dot's Apple Pie

8 Granny Smith or Northern Spy apples (2-3 more for a 12-inch pie)

1 cup of sugar (can be slightly less)

1-2 TBSP of cinnamon

1 TBSP of flour

Butter

Pillsbury (or other similar) pie crust dough

Splash of orange juice

1. Preheat oven to 425ºF

2. Roll out crust to be a little thinner. Then put back in the fridge until apples are ready.

3. Peel and slice apples. Add cinnamon, sugar & flour.

4. Put bottom crust in pie pan (leave top in fridge) and fill with apples – should be overflowing – as many as can fit without falling over

5. Add 4-6 pats of butter on top of apples before adding top crust

6. Add top crust – poke holes with fork (make sure they go all the way through) and spread on a little bit of OJ around the top

7. Bake on lowest rack for 10-15 minutes at 425

8. Reduce heat to 350 and cook for an additional 45 minutes (if top starts getting too dark, put tinfoil tent over it)

9. Let rest 1 hour before serving

Pie can be left on the counter for 2 days and then refrigerated for 2 additional days. Enjoy!
