Aunt Lin’s Dough Recipe

2 packages yeast= 2 tsp.

½ cup water

¼ cup sugar

2 tsp. salt

½ cup shortening

2 cups milk, scalded

7-8 cups of flour

2 beaten eggs

Preheat oven to 375°

Soften active dry yeast in warm water, compress yeast in lukewarm water.

Add sugar, salt, and shortening to scalded milk; stir until shortening is melted.

Cool to lukewarm. Beat in 3 cups of flour; stir in eggs and yeast; beat well.

Add remaining flour to form soft dough. Let rest 10 minutes.

Knead on a lightly-floured surface until smooth and satiny.

Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top.

Cover with damp towel.

Let rise in warm place until double.

Punch down. Divide in half. Let rest 10 min.
