Twist on Classic Cabbage Rolls

4 tbsp oil
1 large onion diced
2 large garlic cloves minced
1 lb lean ground beef
1 cup uncooked rice (of choice)
2 cups tomato pasta sauce
2 cups chicken or beef stock
10 cups thinly sliced green cabbage
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
Instruktioner
In a large skillet add half of the oil and onions and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
Add garlic and sauté for a minute. Add ground beef and cook just until no longer beef.
Add rice, tomato sauce and stock. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for about 15 minutes or just until rice is just tender. Add more stock if all absorbed.
Slice about 10 cups (1 ½ lb) of cabbage thinly.
In another pan add remaining oil and sauté cabbage just until tender about 5 – 8 minutes.
In a 9” x 13” baking dish, add half cabbage, half beef sauce, half cheese and repeat layers ending with cheese. Cover and bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Enjoy!
