Mozzarella in carrozza

8 slices white bread, crusts removed

2 x 125g ball of Mozzarella, cut into thin slices

120mI whole milk

5 heaped tbsp plain flour

1 large egg

Salt and black pepper

Olive oil, for cooking

Wskazówki

1 Make sandwiches out of the bread and Mozzarella, leaving a 1cm margin around the edges. Press the edges of the bread together

2 Place the milk in one bowl, the flour in a second and beat the egg in a third. Season the flour and egg with salt and black pepper

3 Heat the oil in a large pan over a medium heat.

4 One at a time, dip the sandwiches in the milk, then the flour, then the beaten egg.

5 When the oil is hot, add the sandwiches and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crisp on the outside. Drain on kitchen paper, then serve hot with the roasted tomato and red pepper soup.
