Creamy Sausage Cheese Balls

1 Ib bulk Italian or pork sausage

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 oz softened cream cheese

1 egg, beaten

2½ cups biscuit mix / tsp cayenne pepper, optional

1. In a large bowl, combine the sausage, cheddar and cream cheese and mix until combined. Stir in the egg

2. Add the biscuit mix and cayenne pepper, if using, and mix with your hands until blended. Form into 1-inch balls.

3. Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F.

4. Arrange the balls in a single layer in the air fryer. If you have a smaller air fryer, cook in batches. You can keep the finished cheese balls warm in the oven at 225 degrees F.

5. Air fry the balls for 10 to 15 minutes or until they register 160 degrees F on a food thermometer and are golden brown and sizzling. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, optional.
