Olive Oil Apple Crumble

1 1/2 pounds apples
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of salt
Crumble
1 1/4 cup flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup pecans or walnuts
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tbsp granulated or turbinado sugar
To Finish
Vanilla ice cream
drizzle olive oil
flaky sea salt (like maldon)
Fremgangsmåte
Peel the apples and thinly slice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a large bowl, mix the apples, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tbsp flour, vanilla extract, a pinch of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt
Add the apple mix to a 2 quart baking dish
To make the crumble, mix the 1 1/4 cup flour, 2/3 cup brown sugar, pecans or walnuts, baking powder, and 1 tsp kosher salt in a medium bowl
Squeeze in 1/2 cup sizzle and mix gently until dry ingredients are just incorporated (dont overmix- you want big clumps of crumble)
Evenly distribute the crumble mixture over the apples and dust with a tbsp or so of granulated or turbinado sugar
Bake for 50-60 minutes until the crumble is golden brown and apple filling is bubbling
Let cool slightly, then enjoy a la mode with a scoop of ice cream, a big swirl of drizzle, and some flaky sea salt
