Crispy Sticky Tofu

Begin by pressing the tofu: Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels, and place a heavy object (such as a plate or a book) on top. Let it sit for about 20-30 minutes to remove excess moisture.

Once the tofu has been pressed, cut it into bite-sized cubes or rectangular pieces, whichever you prefer.

In a large bowl, combine your cornstarch and tofu together, season with salt and pepper

In a small bowl, prepare the sauce by combining minced garlic, chilli flakes, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, agave syrup and slurry.

Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

Add the tofu pieces to the hot pan, ensuring they are evenly spread out. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bottom side turns golden brown and crispy. All sides are cooked evenly

Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour the sauce mixture over the tofu. Stir gently to coat the tofu evenly with the sauce. Allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes, until it thickens and becomes sticky, coating the tofu beautifully.

Transfer the crispy sticky tofu to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions

Enjoy with steamed rice
