SOUTHERN BUTTER ROLL

2 cups all-purpose flour (250 g)•

1 tbsp baking powder•

½ tsp salt•

¾ cup milk (180 ml)•

¼ cup melted butter (57 g)

Butter-Sugar Filling Ingredients•

½ cup softened butter (113 g)•

¾ cup granulated sugar (150 g)•

1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Sweet Baking SyrupIngredients•

2 cups whole milk OR water (480 ml)•

1½ cups sugar (300 g)•

4 tbsp butter (56 g)•

1 tsp vanilla•

pinch salt

2 tbsp molasses or brown sugar

Fremgangsmåte

Bake in a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish🔥

Oven PreparationPreheat oven to 350°F / 175°C.

Grease baking dish.

Whisk dry ingredients.

Add milk and butter.

Stir into soft dough.

Knead lightly 30 seconds.

Roll into ¼-inch thick rectangle (about 12 × 16 in).

Spread butter over dough.

Sprinkle sugar (and cinnamon if using).

Roll tightly into log.

Slice 1½–2 inches thick.

Place in baking dish with small gaps.

For Syrup

Heat ingredients until butter melts and sugar dissolves

.Pour hot syrup around and between rolls until halfway up sides.

Liquid note:Milk = richer, custard-like syrup.

Bake 45–55 minutes until golden, bubbling, and syrup thickened.

RestLet stand 10–15 minutes before serving.

Serve warm and scoop generously.
