Sardi's Pastry (Pie Dough)

1/2 cup soft butter

8 tsp granulated sugar

2/3 cup soft shortening

3 1/3 cup sifted all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp salt

1/3 cup cold water

Upute

In a large bow, with mixing fork, beat butter with sugar until creamy; then blend this mixture well with soft shortening.

Combine flour and salt; with fork, blend with butter mixture.

With fork, gradually stir in water until mixture cleans side of bowl. Then, on lightly floured surface, knead dough until just well mixed. Use for pie shells.

Makes 2 9" or 10" pie shells, with fluted edges.
