Peanut Butter Blossoms

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1/2 cup peanut butter

2 Tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla

1 egg

1 3/4 cup flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, beat sugar, brown sugar, and margarine until light and fluffy. Add peanut butter, milk, vanilla, and egg; beat well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately top each cookie with a milk chocolate star, pressing down firmly so the cookie cracks around the edge.
